Workplace Investigation and Evidence Weighing Assessment for HR and Employee Relations TeamsThe finding has to survive being read by somebody who was not in the room.
One grievance followed through in six decisions, from the first disclosure to the written finding, scored at every step against the moves actually available there.
Investigation training teaches the procedure. Nothing measures the judgement.
Classroom investigation certificates are published at roughly eighteen hundred to twenty-four hundred dollars a seat and they teach what the steps are. The cases that go wrong were run by people who knew the steps. They went wrong in what the first conversation promised, in the order the interviews ran, and in whether a confident account was mistaken for an accurate one.
Six of these exercises are one case followed all the way through. The position at each step is the same for everybody who sits it, which is stated on the report, so the sixth decision is never a punishment for the first — and each step is scored between the WORST and the BEST move actually available there. That is what lets a good recovery from a bad opening score as a good recovery rather than as six copies of one mistake.
The other thirty-two cover turning a nine-page letter into a list of allegations, what a witness can honestly be promised, why three identically worded accounts are more likely to be one account than strong corroboration, and the line between a finding about conduct and an opinion about somebody's character.
The report draws your own path against the best available one, rung by rung, with the value of every move and a typical respondent's line printed beside it. It also computes what happened after your weakest move, which is the one thing a summary statistic cannot show.
It makes no recommendation about any outcome, for exactly the reason the exercises say an investigator should not: the finding and the decision belong to different people, and a report offering both is harder to rely on than one offering the first.
What you walk away with
A weighted path value across the six rungs, corrected against what a typical respondent would take at the same rungs.
Your move at every rung against the best move available there, with the value, the typical value and the weight.
Computed from your own path, because recovery is what per-rung scoring exists to make visible.
Scoping, gathering, weighing and writing, each with a three-way placement and the reliability that permits it.
Two situations probe what you promise about sharing, through different cover stories, several exercises apart.
Aimed at whichever part of your own sitting sat lowest.
Inside your report
Illustrative sample — your report is generated from your own responses.
Every rung is scored between the worst and the best move available at THAT rung, so a dip followed by full bars is a recovery rather than a run of luck.
After the weaker move at rung four you averaged 83 per cent of the value available on the rungs that followed. Because each rung is scored against the moves available at that rung, that is recovery rather than luck: the best move from a worse position still scores full value.
The case is the same for everybody who sits it. That is a limitation of a fixed form and it is printed on the report, so a later rung is never read as a consequence of an earlier choice.

Frequently asked questions
No. It tests no country's employment law and no code of practice. Every exercise turns on the handling rather than on the statute, because the handling is what a tribunal or an appeal actually examines and it is the same in most places.
Because a fixed form cannot branch, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest. The position at each rung is authored and identical for everybody, which is printed on the report - and it has one real advantage: every rung was written to contain a genuinely good next move, so nobody is handed a position with no way out.
No, and that is the point of the scoring design. Each rung is scored between the worst and the best move available at that rung, so the best move from a worse position still earns full value. The report computes what you did after your weakest move and prints it.
It makes no recommendation about any outcome, in any form. That is a deliberate match to what the exercises say an investigator should do, and it is the most common single fault in real investigation reports.
About forty-five minutes for thirty-eight exercises. ₹1,199 in India, inclusive of GST, or US$11.99 elsewhere, one time, for the sitting and the full report.
Each one takes a single capability, puts you inside the situations where it is actually tested, and scores your choices against published evidence — with a report designed for that capability alone, not a template. They span hiring, compliance, education, operations and personal skill.
Browse the catalogue →Methodology: Thirty-eight original exercises across six formats: eighteen situational judgement items of which six are the rungs of one case, five select-every-that-applies exercises, five keyed claims, four most-and-least forced choices, three matching exercises and three ordering exercises. The declared response instruction is behavioural tendency throughout - what you are most likely to do - and one instruction covers the whole form. Construct statement: it measures how somebody scopes an allegation, gathers accounts without shaping them, weighs evidence that conflicts, and writes a finding that a reader who was not present can test. It does not measure knowledge of any country's employment law, it does not certify anybody to conduct investigations, it says nothing about whether a particular finding would survive a tribunal, and it is not a measure of fairness as a personal quality. Scoring is a path-value trajectory with recovery credit for the six-rung case and chance-corrected graded credit for the rest. Every rung is scored between the worst and the best move available AT THAT RUNG, so one early error is not counted six times, and the later rungs carry more weight than the earlier ones. The case is FIXED STATE: the position described at every rung is the same for every respondent and is authored rather than generated from their earlier answers, which is stated on the report so that nobody reads a shared rung as a consequence of their own choice. Because per-rung normalisation puts a respondent choosing at random near the middle of every rung, the path score is additionally chance-corrected against the same per-rung null, drawn from the authored answer priors on each option, and both figures are printed. Constructs and sources: the civil standard of proof and its application to workplace findings; investigative interviewing and the evidence on open questioning, free recall and the damage done by leading and closed questions (the PEACE and cognitive-interview literatures); memory conformity and co-witness contamination, and the effect of discussion between witnesses on the independence of accounts (Gabbert, Memon and Allan); the weak relationship between confidence, detail and accuracy in eyewitness accounts; contemporaneity as a weight criterion; the separation of finding from recommendation and of conduct from characterisation in adjudicative writing; procedural justice and the effect of explained process on acceptance of an outcome (Leventhal's criteria; the voice literature); and item-writing guidance from Haladyna, Downing and Rodriguez.
