The scale is deliberately different in shape from the 20–80 scales used by established spoken-English tests so that nobody reads a number as a direct equivalence claim. Two consequences worth telling students: a band is fourteen points wide, so two students in the same letter can be thirteen points apart, and a student one point apart from another can sit in a different letter.
