The spatial-reasoning market is a preparation market: week, month and three-month subscriptions to hundreds of practice questions, plus free samplers that upsell. Every one of them is built to get you through somebody else's test, and none of them tells you which kind of mental move is actually costing you the figure.
Twelve exercises here draw two or three pieces and four finished figures and ask which figure the pieces build. Every figure offered has exactly the same number of squares as the pieces, so counting them tells you nothing. On four of the twelve, one of the figures is the right answer seen in a mirror - and a mirror is the one transformation a piece on a table cannot undo.
Every one of those exercises is verified by construction rather than by eye. The pieces are represented as cell sets, the search covers all four quarter turns and every translation, and an exercise is refused unless exactly one figure can be tiled by the pieces and the other three cannot. On the mirror exercises the piece set is checked for handedness first, because a mirror trap built from a symmetrical piece is not a trap.
Your result goes on a five-rung ladder with every cut printed - and the rung is claimed only when your whole ninety-five per cent band lies inside it. On a twenty-eight exercise form that is often not true, and the report then names the rungs your band spans instead of picking the one the point estimate happened to land in. A ladder that always produces a rung is not a ladder, it is a rounding.
Two standard errors are printed side by side and the WIDER one is the one drawn: the one from an assumed reliability, and the plain binomial error of your own answers, which assumes no population at all. Taking the narrower of two honest estimates is how a report acquires precision nobody earned.

The declared response instruction is knowledge and applied reasoning throughout - which figure do these pieces build, and what does this drawing fix - and one instruction covers the whole form. Construct statement: it measures whether somebody can turn a shape in their head and keep it, whether they notice handedness when a mirror image is offered, whether they can tell in advance that a thing will not go through a gap, and what they take a drawing to have fixed. It does not measure manual skill, speed of work, mechanical knowledge, mathematics or intelligence, and it predicts nothing about any particular job.
