Twenty-three sequences, four ways of making them harder
Every one of the 23 items works the same way: cells on a grid light up one after another, the sequence ends, and you tap the cells back. What changes is the demand. The forward section asks for the order shown, with sequences growing longer as you go. The reverse section asks for the order backwards, so you must hold the whole sequence and reorder it before answering. The rapid-flash section shortens the time each cell is lit. The large-grid section spreads the cells across more positions. About 18 minutes; the clock allows 20.
Recall is scored with positional partial credit that is sensitive to order, so a sequence reproduced almost perfectly earns almost full marks and a single slip does not zero it. Every sequence is generated with a machine-verified key and plays identically for every candidate who meets that item. The design adapts the classic grid-sequence span paradigm in its forward, reverse, speeded and large-grid variants without reproducing any commercial instrument. Response times are recorded but not scored, so pausing to reconstruct a sequence is not penalised.
