Eight streams present symbols one after another to be sorted by a rule — by shape in one family of items, by count or shading in the other — and the rule changes partway through without announcement, so you must notice from the feedback that the old sort no longer works and switch. Eleven figure items run the other way: several drawn figures share a category and you identify what defines it, or a matrix follows a rule and you complete it. Nineteen items in about 16 minutes; 18 on the clock. Nothing is written in words beyond the instructions.
Streams are scored on accuracy across their positions, figure items on the keyed option, and every rule and key is machine-verified. Distractors in the figure items are built by altering exactly one rule, so they are plausible but never accidentally right. Per-position response times are recorded — they will support switch-cost analysis in future — but they do not contribute to any score today. The formats adapt rule-switching and category-induction paradigms from the cognitive literature and reproduce no commercial instrument.
The report scores Deductive Flexibility — the streams — and Rule Induction — the figure items — separately, banding each from Emerging to Exceptional with a coaching interpretation. Someone who infers rules readily but clings to them after they change is a recognisable profile, and so is the reverse. A narrative is generated from your own results, strengths and development areas are named, a prioritised growth plan begins with the lower competency, and the review shows each stream position by position and each figure set with its rule stated.
