People & Performance Data JudgmentAttrition, engagement and performance numbers — read correctly, then acted on well.

Eight data items and eight situational scenarios for managers and HR business partners: compute the attrition rate and replacement cost, spot the small-sample and proxy-metric traps, then choose the sound management response. Twenty-six minutes; scored on Data Interpretation and Workplace Judgment.

The data items give you a firm's average headcount and the number of leavers and ask for the annual attrition rate; or a replacement-cost assumption, an average salary and a leaver count, and ask for the total. Straightforward, until the scenarios arrive: a five-person team that lost two people against a company rate of twelve percent, with a vice-president demanding action on the red dashboard flag; an HR partner proposing to publish team-level engagement scores when the smallest team has four people and last cycle's figure would let colleagues infer individual answers. The right response depends on reading the number correctly first.

All datasets and scenarios are original constructs written for this test, set in invented companies. The eight multiple-choice keys are verified by worked computation, with distractors built from the standard errors — headcount at year end instead of average, cost per leaver confused with total. The eight situational items are graded on a 0–3 behavioural-effectiveness scale: the response that reads the data correctly and acts proportionately earns full credit, a defensible but weaker response earns partial credit, and a reaction to the dashboard colour earns nothing.

The report scores Data Interpretation and Workplace Judgment from their own tagged items and bands each with a coaching interpretation, so a manager who computes correctly but overreacts to small samples sees that combination named. All 16 items are reviewed with the working or the graded reasoning — why two leavers from five is not a crisis, why a four-person team's score cannot be published. The growth plan is built from the weaker competency, which for many managers is the judgement half.

Two competencies, scored from the items tagged to each:

What you walk away with

Reading the data and acting on it, scored separately

Data Interpretation and Workplace Judgment are banded from their own items with a coaching interpretation each. The report can say that you compute attrition correctly but treat a small-sample spike as a trend — or the reverse — which is the distinction a people-manager role turns on.

Graded credit on the management response

Situational options are scored 0–3, so the overall 0–100 score and its band reflect how consistently you chose the proportionate, data-literate response rather than how often you avoided the worst one.

Every computation and every graded key explained

All 16 items return with the working or the reasoning: the attrition formula, the replacement-cost arithmetic, why publishing a four-person team's score exposes individuals. For an HR partner or a new manager, that is a compact course in people analytics.

A growth plan for the half you are weaker in

Strengths and development areas are drawn from your own responses, and the plan targets whichever competency scored lower — arithmetic practice for one profile, small-sample and proxy-metric judgement for the other.

Frequently asked questions

What does the People & Performance Data Judgment test assess?

Two things in sequence: whether you read people metrics correctly — attrition rates, replacement costs, engagement scores, including small-sample and proxy-metric traps — and whether you then choose a sound management response. Eight data items score Data Interpretation and eight situational scenarios score Workplace Judgment. It is built for people managers and HR business partners, and for hiring teams assessing candidates for those roles.

How are the situational items scored, and is there a right answer to a people problem?

Each option is graded on a 0–3 behavioural-effectiveness scale. The response that reads the data correctly and acts proportionately earns full credit; a defensible but weaker one earns partial credit; a reaction to the dashboard colour rather than the number earns nothing. Several options in each scenario are plausible, so choosing the most active-sounding one does not score. The multiple-choice data items have single keys verified by worked computation.

How long is it and what do I receive?

Twenty-six minutes for 16 items in one sitting, on any device. The report is generated immediately: an overall 0–100 score with a band, banded bars for both competencies with a coaching interpretation each, a radar, a personalised narrative, strengths and development areas, a growth plan and a review of all 16 items with the working or the graded reasoning. Everything is included; there is nothing further to unlock.

How is the report used in hiring or development?

Hiring teams set a band threshold for manager and HRBP vacancies and then use the scenario review as an interview prompt — asking a candidate to defend a partial-credit choice about a small team's attrition is more revealing than asking about their leadership style. Heads of function issue it to existing managers as a baseline before a people-analytics or dashboard rollout, with a retake afterwards. There is no pass mark.

Is it relevant to managers outside India, and how is it priced?

Yes. Attrition arithmetic, small-sample caution and the confidentiality of a four-person team's engagement score are the same in any organisation, and the scenarios avoid country-specific employment law. The report is written in plain international English. The test is priced in INR and USD, with the live price for each currency shown on this page, so international managers and global HR teams pay in whichever suits them.
