What Should a Hiring Screen for a Shared-Services Process Associate Actually Contain?

A hiring assessment blueprint is the written specification of a screen: which modules run, how many scored items each contributes, how long each takes, which competencies each carries, and what weight each takes in the combined score. It is a test specification, not a bundle. A bundle lists what you buy; a blueprint states what the number means.

What it does not cover

  • ·Numerical Reasoning. No module in this blueprint carries it. If the desk is finance, billing or order-to-cash, add Business Arithmetic (24 items / 22 minutes / 5 credits) and re-weight — it should not be dropped in at weight 1.0 on top of five existing modules.
  • ·Spoken English. Every module here is written. If the role answers calls, this blueprint is the wrong one and a voice screen is a different instrument with a different score scale.
  • ·Systems knowledge — SAP, Oracle, a specific ticketing tool. Nothing here tests a named application, and a screen that claims to is usually testing recall of a menu layout.
  • ·Tenure or attrition risk. Nothing in this blueprint predicts how long someone stays. Hub attrition is mostly a function of scheduling, supervision and pay, and no 104-minute sitting will tell you about any of them.

The weight column, and what happens if you ignore it

This is the part of a blueprint that decides what the score means, and it is the part no vendor publishes.

AssessAll combines a multi-module sitting by averaging each module's PERCENTAGE, weighted, and the weight defaults to 1.0. Five modules at the default therefore contribute 20% each — regardless of how many items each one has.

Run that against this blueprint. The attention module has 30 items and the situational-judgement module has 16. Under equal module weights, one situational-judgement item moves the composite 1.875 times as far as one attention item (30 ÷ 16). If you believe error-checking accuracy is the most important thing this role does, the default configuration quietly disagrees with you.

There is no correct answer here, only a stated one. Weighting strictly by length means setting the weights to the item counts — 30, 22, 20, 18, 16. Weighting by intent means choosing the numbers and writing down why, which is what the 5 / 5 / 3 / 3 / 4 column above is. What is not defensible is inheriting equal weights and then describing the composite as a measure of attention to detail.

Ask any other vendor the same question. If a battery returns one number and nobody can tell you what each test contributes to it, the number is a ranking device, not a measurement.

How to configure it, honestly

    There is no one-click template and this page will not pretend there is. A blueprint is a specification you configure once; the configuration then repeats for every drive.

    Create a pack and add the modules in the order in the table. The platform stores a pack as an ordered list of assessments, so the sequence you set is the sequence the candidate sits.

    Set the weight on each pack item deliberately. Leaving it unset applies 1.0 to every module — see the weighting section above for what that does to the composite.

    Decide whether you are running one pack or two. One pack of five gives you one composite and one 104-minute sitting. Two packs — stage 1 of two modules, stage 2 of three — is shorter, cheaper per applicant and gives you two separate composites, because the aggregate is computed per pack and there is no cross-pack composite.

    Deliver by share link or QR to the cohort. Candidates do not need accounts, which is what makes a two-stage design practical at hub volumes.

    Set the cut score by a documented method before the first invitation goes out, not after you have seen the distribution. Run a small Angoff panel on the stage-1 modules and record the panel spread alongside the number.

Four things this blueprint will not do for you

A partial sitting still returns a number

The composite is averaged over the segments a candidate actually completed, not over the segments in the pack. Someone who finished three of five modules gets an aggregate that looks exactly like a complete one. The platform reports the completed count and a completion flag alongside it — compare only complete sittings, and treat the flag as part of the score rather than as metadata.

Stage 2 scores sit on a restricted range

If stage 2 only ever runs on people who cleared stage 1, the stage-2 scores you collect come from a pre-selected group. Their spread is narrower than the population's, so any correlation you compute between a stage-2 score and later performance will look weaker than it really is. This is range restriction, it is a property of every multi-stage screen, and it is the reason a two-stage design should not be used to argue that the second stage 'does not predict anything'.

There is no AssessAll norm group behind these modules

The platform does not yet publish a benchmark or percentile drawn from its own population for these modules, and the hiring percentile it does report is a cohort percentile — the share of scored candidates in your own pipeline at or below this one. It is not a national or industry norm and should never be read as one.

The blueprint is a specification, not a validation study

Publishing item counts, competencies and weights makes a screen auditable. It does not make it validated for your role in your country. AssessAll publishes no local validity study or norm group for Singapore or Malaysia, and job-relevance remains the employer's evidence to hold.

When not to use this blueprint

  • Your bottleneck is sourcing, not selection. If you are short of applicants rather than short of ways to sort them, a 104-minute screen makes the funnel worse.
  • You are hiring fewer than about ten people. The configuration and standard-setting work behind a blueprint is a fixed cost that only pays back over a cohort.
  • The role is voice-fronted. Use a spoken instrument instead; a written business-English module is not a substitute and reporting it as one is how a hub ends up with a queue nobody can understand.
  • You need an internationally recognised English certificate on file for a visa, a client contract or an accreditation. That is a job for a recognised language benchmark, not for a hiring screen.
  • Your stage-1 pass rate is above about 85%. At that rate a two-stage design saves roughly US$0.75 a head and costs you a second invitation to almost everybody — the drop-off will cost more than the credits. Either move the bar or run one pack.

Six questions to ask of any battery

These work on anyone's battery, ours included.

    How many scored items does each module contribute?

    A time limit is not a length. Two 20-minute modules can differ by 14 items, and the shorter one's items each move the composite further. Ask for the count, not the clock.

    What weight does each module carry in the combined score?

    If nobody can tell you, the answer is almost certainly equal weighting per module — which is a decision somebody made by not making it.

  3. 3

    Which competencies are covered twice, and which are covered once?

    A competency carried by two modules is measured with more items and less error than one carried by a single module. That is a fact about your score, not about the candidate.

  4. 4

    What does the composite do when a candidate does not finish?

    A partial sitting that still returns a number is the most common way two candidates get compared on different tests without anyone noticing.

  5. 5

    Where does the cut score come from?

    A bar is either set by a documented standard-setting method or it is set by someone's memory of a number. Ask which, and ask for the panel's spread.

    What is not on the blueprint at all?

    The competency nobody listed is the one the screen will not catch. Read the gaps before the coverage.

How long should a screen for a shared-services process associate be?

This blueprint runs 104 minutes of test time across five modules if you invite everyone to everything. Split in two stages it is 35 minutes for the whole applicant pool and a further 69 minutes only for candidates who clear the first bar, which is the version most hubs should run.

What does this cost per candidate?

Twenty-five credits for the complete blueprint, which is US$12.50 at US$0.50 a credit. Run as two stages it is US$5.00 for every applicant and US$7.50 more for those who reach stage 2, so at a 30% stage-1 pass rate a thousand applicants cost about US$7,250 rather than US$12,500.

How should the modules be weighted?

Deliberately, and in writing. This blueprint recommends 5 / 5 / 3 / 3 / 4 out of 20 — 25% attention to detail, 25% business English, 15% data literacy, 15% process logic, 20% workplace judgment. The platform's default is a weight of 1.0 on every module, which gives each module 20% regardless of its length and makes one item in the 16-item situational module worth 1.875 items in the 30-item attention module.

Does this blueprint measure English at a CEFR level?

No. The Business English module measures business-correspondence effectiveness in writing and reports it as Verbal Reasoning & Comprehension and Workplace Judgment. It is not a CEFR-aligned language certificate, and a hub that needs a recognised English benchmark for a client contract needs a language instrument instead.

Can I fork this blueprint into the builder in one click?

No. There is no one-click template. You create a pack, add the five modules in order, and set the weight on each — a configuration you do once and then reuse for every drive. The blueprint on this page is the specification to configure from.

Does a published blueprint make the screen legally defensible?

It makes it auditable, which is a precondition and not the whole thing. Job-relevance evidence, the standard-setting record behind the cut score and any accommodation process remain the employer's to hold. AssessAll publishes no Singapore or Malaysia validity study or norm group, and nothing on this page is legal advice.
