The Document and Slide Production Assessment measures whether you know what a document, a deck or a table needs before it reaches its reader, and whether you match the amount of production effort to what the situation warrants. It is tool-neutral: it tests styles, masters, slide load, alt text and export, never a menu or a shortcut.
Most people who send documents for a living have a default. Some tidy everything; some send everything; some start again from the template whenever a file looks wrong. Every one of those habits is right sometimes and expensive the rest of the time, and no software course can tell you which one you have, because software courses test whether you can do a thing, not whether you should.
Twelve of the thirty-four exercises put the same four-rung ladder in front of you every time: send it as it is, tidy the structure, rebuild the layout, or start again from a template. Each situation carries the rung it warrants, and the credit for your choice comes from a four-by-four table that is printed on your report. The table was chosen so that every column has the same mean across the twelve calls. That is the whole point: always tidying scores exactly what always sending does, and both score behind somebody who reads each case. The table is also a value judgement, and it says so. Over-polishing an internal note costs a morning; under-polishing a client deck costs the client. The rows price those two mistakes differently, and you can see the prices and disagree with them.
The other twenty-two exercises test the mechanics that decide whether a file survives contact with its reader: why a contents page is empty, what lives in a master and what lives in the copy, how much one slide can carry, what a screen reader or a greyscale printer actually receives, and how to get a 60 MB deck through a 10 MB mailbox. The keys hold in every mainstream office suite, including the word-processing and presentation products from Microsoft, Google and Apple and the open-source LibreOffice suite; those names are the trademarks of their owners and this assessment is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them.
Every score on your report is a ribbon, not a number on its own: the 95 per cent span outlined, the 68 per cent span filled inside it, and one plain sentence saying about two chances in three that a retest would land inside it. On a twenty-minute sitting those bands are wide, and the report draws them wide, because that is the difference between a result and a horoscope. Where a part has too few exercises to carry a number, the report prints the refusal instead of rounding one up.

Scoring is a warranted-level match. Each of the twelve production calls carries the effort level it warrants, and credit is read from a published four-by-four table, warranted level by chosen level. The table is asymmetric on purpose: it is a value judgement that over-polishing an internal note costs a morning while under-polishing a client artefact costs the client, and its rows were chosen numerically so that every column has the same mean across the twelve calls as authored.
